Lenten Poetry & Prayer Workshops
This series will feature weekly themes Wednesdays during Lent (February 22, March 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29). Join published poet and contemplation prayer leader Melanie Weldon-Soiset at the Washington Retreat House as we wander through Lent via poetry and prayer. Each Wednesday during Lent, we’ll explore a new poetry prompt based on a different set of Lenten-themed images. Whether you are brand new to poetry or an experienced poet, these workshops will provide a fresh opportunity to enter into the sights and senses of the season. These generative sessions will also offer you a new poem each week that can serve as your own personal prayer. There is an option $12 lunch after each session.
Weekly Themes:
Feb 22 – fire, ashes, trumpets
March 1 – pilgrimage
March 8 – wilderness and water
March 15 – light, sight
March 22 – waiting at the grave
March 29 – through the gate
An RSVP each week is encouraged, but not required.
